Portfolio > playhouse

playhouse consists of sculptures which are a result of play - with materials, forms and ideas. Cast bronze GI Joe figures inhabit a space in which houses, teeder-todders, staircases and ladders allow toy scale to be extrapolated into human scale.

Equilibrium and the precarious nature of rules is a thematic underlay of the work. The notion of toys doing work is presented through the use of weight with impossible situations and positioning of the figures. The figures exist in a Sisyphean state of constant labour in which no matter the direction, there is always some barrier to the perceived desired outcome.
